About Bird's-eye gilia

Bird's-eye gilia is a charming little wildflower that brings delicate beauty to any garden while feeding hungry pollinators and hummingbirds. The tiny flowers are so pretty—they look like colorful little eyes with bands of color—that you can't help but smile when you see them. This California native is easy to grow and asks very little from you, making it perfect for a low-fuss garden bed. Planting it is a wonderful way to support the birds and butterflies that visit your yard.

Growing bird's-eye gilia is straightforward. Plant the seeds directly in the soil where you want them to bloom, and they'll do the rest of the work for you. They're annual plants, which means you can plant fresh seeds each year and enjoy a new show of blooms. Once established, they're quite hardy and don't need much fussing. You'll find yourself looking forward to their arrival each season, and so will your garden visitors.
