About Kentucky bluegrass
# Kentucky Bluegrass
Kentucky bluegrass is a wonderful native perennial that does so much good in your yard. Birds love it for food and shelter, and butterflies and other insects depend on it too. This grass is tough and reliable, spreading naturally to fill in bare spots on its own. You'll appreciate how it stays green longer than many other plants, giving your garden color from spring right through fall. It's also beautiful when it flowers, with delicate seed heads that catch the light.
Growing Kentucky bluegrass is refreshingly simple. Plant it in full sun where it will thrive. Once established, it needs very little fussing over, making it perfect if you want a low-maintenance yard. This grass handles foot traffic well and actually improves as it spreads. Water it during dry spells when it's first getting started, then let it be. You'll find it's one of those plants that rewards you for doing less, not more.
