About American wintergreen

American wintergreen is a charming native plant that brings quiet beauty to your shade garden. Its delicate pink and white flowers nod gracefully along the stems from June through August, attracting bees and other pollinators looking for nectar. The plant stays low and compact, making it perfect for tucking into woodland corners or shaded borders. Even after the flowers fade, the evergreen leaves offer year-round interest and structure to your beds.

This little perennial is easy to live with once established. Give it a spot with part shade and well-draining soil, and it will settle in happily. It prefers consistent moisture but doesn't like sitting in wet soil. Plant it where you can enjoy its delicate blooms up close, and you'll find yourself returning to admire it again and again. It's one of those rewarding plants that asks for little but gives plenty back.
